The iCentre, the authorised Apple service provider in Malta, will organise a series of workshops during the Digital Arts Expo that will be held between November 4 and 6 at the Intercontinental, St Julians.

The iCentre will set-up a dedicated lab with computers to accommodate around 25 users in each session.

The workshops are meant for creative users who want to get the most out of the software available in Apple’s range of desktop and notebook computers. Apple’s iLife, iWork and Mac OS X will be presented over the three days.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6) is the seventh major release of Mac OS X, Apple’s desktop and server operating system. This version of Mac OS X focuses on improving performance, efficiency and reducing its overall memory footprint compared to its predecessor Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard”, rather than new end-user features.

In this workshop, users will learn how to use new desktop features such as Stacks, Spaces, Quick Look, and Cover Flow. They will also find out how to use Time Machine and Time Capsule to back up their Mac securely and automatically.

iLife is a software suite from Apple Inc. for Mac OS X. The suite consists of iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb, which are for organising, viewing and publishing digital content (pictures, movies, music, and web pages).

In this workshop, participants will discover how much they can do with this collection of digital lifestyle applications.

iWork is Apple’s productivity suite which includes Pages, a word processing and desktop publishing application, Keynote, a presentation package, and Numbers, a spreadsheet application. iWork is designed to integrate with existing applications from Apple’s iLife suite and is fully compatible with the other popular office software. Advanced tools and new features in iWork 09 will be shown.

Booking is open and seats are limited. More information from the DA Expo website www.digitalartsexpo.com/workshops.asp
