Works on the site where Parliament as designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano is to be built started yesterday with the demolition of the arcades just below St James Cavalier, Valletta. The contractor used a water cannon to sprinkle the area to help the dust settle quickly. However, the work had to stop after a restaurateur complained that water particles mixed with dust were blowing towards his café and putting off clients. Workers then started placing more hoarding boards around the zone.
