Works by five international artists will be exhibited at Palazzo Vilhena in Mdina in order to raise funds for St Patrick's Salesian School.

Erik Parker, Gabriele Picco, Marco Cingolani, Jonathan Meese and Torben Giehler are the artists whose works will be exhibited in what has been entitled Mirror Of Life.

All five artists can boast a vast curriculum vitae with exhibitions in some of the most prestigious museums and exhibition centres around the world.

The curator of the exhibition Thomas Brambilla said: "The exhibition should bring to Malta an injection of art which is different from that which the Maltese are usually accustomed to. The paintings in the exhibition are of high value and international standards. Mirror Of Life is an exhibition of contemporary masterpieces from artists who have and are building a great international reputation".

The exhibition, which will be open every day between 9 a.m. and 5p.m. between Saturday and April 25, will be inaugurated by President Emeritus Guido de Marco. Money raised from the sale of any of the paintings will be donated to the school which hosts 80 students, 30 of whom are residents due to their very difficult situation.

Fr. Charlie Said, headmaster of the school said: "I am looking forward to the exhibition because it will provide a cultural opportunity, an experience of European art while contributing to a noble educational cause for the benefit of young people especially those from a particular family set up".

Erik Parker was born in Stuttgart in Germany in 1968 and lives in New York; Gabriele Picco was born in 1974 in Brescia (Italy) and lives and works in New York and Brescia; Marco Cingolani was born in Como (Italy) in 1961 and lives and works in Milan and New York; Jonathan Meese was born in 1971 in Tokyo and lives and works in Berlin and Hamburg; while Torben Giehler was born in 1973 in Bad Oeynhausen (Germany) and lives and works in New York.
