An MP's question has alerted the authorities about a former Air Malta worker who took early retirement money from the airline and then found a job with the government.

The question was put by Nationalist MP Charlo' Bonnici who asked Education Minister Evarist Bartolo whether anyone in his secretariat had received early retirement funds which he was not entitled to, since he had been given a government job.

Mr Bartolo said two Air Malta workers had opted for a government job and did not take the early retirement money.

But another, who is working at Mcast, was found to have taken the retirement founds and then got himself the government job.

The authorities are working to recover the funds.

Mr Bartolo thanked Mr Bonnici for pointing to the case.
