A dog in a residence in Swieqi was rescued by an Italian worker after it got stuck in the railings of an apartment balcony, risking plummeting two storeys.

Witnesses believed the dog had been locked out of the apartment in Triq is-Sidra and tried to crawl out while its owners were out, getting stuck in the railings in the process.

Upon seeing the dog yelping in a panic, neighbours and workers set up sheets of plastic and cushioning just in case it fell down.

But a worker in an adjacent building managed to climb to the balcony and pulled the dog to safety. A neighbour later said the dog was not locked outside but the balcony door was left open for him to go in and out as he pleases.
