A worker was slightly injured this morning when a filter valve exploded at Marsa power station. Another is being treated for shock.

The explosion, at 5 a.m., caused a quantity of oil to be released, with some of it spilling into the sea. However the leakage was immediately stopped and the situation is under control, Enemalta said. The spill is being cleaned up.

The corporation said power was cut to some areas but was restored by 6.30 a.m.
