Transport Malta has announced new traffic arrangements in view of works on the new Valletta bus terminus.

As from tomorrow, the following arrangements will come into force:

  • Sarria Street, Floriana, from corner with Vinċenżo Bugeja Street up to corner with Great Siege Road, will be closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicular traffic will flow through St Anne Street, Floriana or through Sa Maison Hill.
  • Route buses will access the Valletta Terminus through St Anne Street and through Lord Nelson Avenue (currently used as an exit from the terminus). The bus stop located along Sarria Street will be temporarily suspended. Public transport patrons are to make use of the bus stop along St Anne Street in the vicinity of the American Embassy.
  • King Edward VII Str (the part in front of Fuq il-Biskuttin) will remain open to vehicular traffic.
  • For the duration of the works, parking will not be permitted along the Mall from corner with V. Dimech Street up to corner with Vinċenżo Bugeja Street and in E.S. Tonna Square area / Argotti Gardens. The Mall will remain open to through traffic.
  • Access from St Anne Street and St Calcidonius Square (Curia / Police General Headquarters / Balzunetta Area) will be permitted through E.S. Tonna Square and Vinċenżo Bugeja Street.
  • The car park (located opposite the petrol station and adjacent to the Granaries) along Great Siege Road corner with Sarria Street will remain open.
  • The pedestrian walk-way along Great Siege Road (petrol station side) in the direction towards St Anne Street cannot be used for the duration of the works.

The public was urged to use public transport when travelling to and from Valletta and Floriana.

Transport Malta said it regretted any inconvenience.
