Malta's women's football team went down 8-0 to England in a Group Five World Cup qualifier last night in Blackpool.

It was a stroll in the park for England's team, which had seven changes from the squad which took part in the Euro 2009 final last month.

Everton's Fara Williams scored a hit a hat-trick while Maltese defender Natasha Pace was sent off on the hour.

Malta's team also went down 13-0 to Spain last month.

The other goals came from England captain Faye White, who opened the score after eight minutes, Williams in the 24th, Jess Clarke in the 37th minute, Williams again just before the break and again early in the second half.

Clarke scored again in the 76th minute and substitute Emily Westwood followed a minute later. Rachel Unitt scored the last within minutes of the end of the game.
