Together We Rise marks a collaboration between the China Cultural Centre, Gaulitana − A Festival of Music and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, one of China’s top academies of fine arts.

It also showcases Malta’s and China’s common dream for a future of continued development and win-win achievements, where women take centre stage.

Curated by Zhang Liang, the artistic initiative combines the ‘Women in Society’ theme of the 13th edition of Gozo’s classic musical event and the China Cultural Centre’s ‘Women’s Culture Month’, which kicked off on International Women’s Day on March 8.

More than 30 teachers and students of art from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, the China Academy of Arts and the Nanjing Academy of Art have contributed to this exhibition.

The paintings mostly depict floral and nature sketches, including a map of Malta outlined with flowers, in  various mediums. They represent tradition but also the vanguard spirit of today’s women, who pursue and realise their dreams.
