A woman rolled in her boyfriend’s vomit in an attempt not to get arrested after a fight in Paceville in the early hours of Friday morning, a court heard yesterday.

Police Inspector Trevor Micallef told Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras how Joseline Cozzolino Centeno, 21, from Venezuela, tried to punch a police sergeant after her Spanish boyfriend, Jorge Fernando Garcia, had spat at the officer.

The police had intervened after the couple had engaged in a fight with another two men.

The inspector said Mr Garcia was “very drunk” and vomited on the police sergeant before the woman threw a punch.

He said the woman had overstayed her visa and was currently in Malta illegally.

“The police cannot continue being treated like this in Paceville,” the inspector told the court.

The Spaniard was granted bail against a €300 deposit and a €5,000 personal guarantee and ordered to sign the bail book three times a week while the Venezuelan woman was remanded in custody.
