A 31-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay was charged with pushing her partner and causing him to fall one storey at his residence.

Dona Debono was charged with causing 41-year-old Frenchman Thierry Aliexis grievous bodily harm and with threatening him in the early hours of Sunday.

Standing tearfully in the dock, Ms Debono said that she lived with the man in his Rabat villa and had spent the day by his bedside in hospital. She insisted they had not broken up.

Lawyer Lucio Sciriha said that had Mr Aliexis not been confined to hospital, he would have renounced his complaint and halted proceedings.

Ms Debono was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
