A 25-year-old woman from Swieqi is in a critical condition following a car crash early this morning.

She was a passenger in a Mercedes Benz 190D that was being driven by a 26-year-old man from Sliema. The man was grievously injured.

Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Sliema, suffered shock.

The police said the accident happened in Rue d'Argens, Gzira at around 1.20 a.m.

The Mercedes collided with a Scania Irizar.

An inquiry is being held.
