The police are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of a woman found in a well in Zurrieq this morning.

The police said the woman, Jessie Camilleri, 64, was found drowned in the well of her house in Triq-Sajjieda at about 11 a.m. by her son. There were no signs of violence on the woman and no signs of a break-in. However a plank of wood which covered the well was broken.

The case is being treated as an accident but an autopsy has been ordered.
