A 46-year-old woman was charged with assaulting two police officers who intervened to break up a fight between her and another woman this afternoon.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella heard Jennifer Chetcuti, from Cospicua, plead not guilty to assaulting police constables Tania Mangion and Jonathan Bordieri at about 12.30pm in Cospicua square.

She was also charged with disobeying the police, breaching the peace and uttering obscene words in public.

The woman was granted bail against a €500 deposit and a personal guarantee of €5,000.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted while lawyers Ludwig Caruana and Annalise Debono represented the woman.
