iCentre of Pieta', Malta's authorised Apple service provider, has announced the winner of the competition to produce the iCentre's next TV commercial.

Daniel Durrans, a 24-year-old Englishman who has been residing in Malta for the last three years, got a 24" LED Cinema Display and a 15" MacBook Pro as winner of the competition.

A graphic designer by profession, his creation is a cartoon-like animation that promotes the iCentre as the provider of outstanding products that improve our lifestyle. His Liana and Dan story took two-and-a-half-days to complete with Adobe After Effects CS4 on a MacBook Pro notebook.

Steve Cortis and Mark Saliba, both 17, were runners up. They attend Junior College and it took them one week on an Apple iMac with Final Cut Studio 2 to complete the advert. They won an iPod touch and the latest in Apple applications from iWork and iLife 2009.

The video by Quelin Zammit was the People's Choice winner, while Chris Sultana's vote earned him an iPod Shuffle.

The scope of the competition was to promote creativity through the use of Apple's software and hardware.

Judging was based on the following criteria: originality (40 per cent), overall appeal (30 per cent) and likelihood to motivate people to buy products from the iCentre (30 per cent). Public voting was also encouraged for the people's choice.

All submissions are available on YouTube and the winners are on the iCentre's website.
