Representatives of Camilleri Wines, Delicata, Marsovin, Meridiana and Montecristo wineries met in what is thought to be a historic moment for winemaking in Malta.

It was probably the first time representatives of Maltese winemakers have met around the same table, with the Institute of Tourism Studies hosting them over a business lunch, the institute said in a media release.

The aim was to discuss the selection of local wines to be presented at a seminar to be organised by the Sommelier Association of Malta, represented by ITS lecturer Richard Pons.

The seminar was addressed by Giuseppe Vaccarini, director of the International Association of Sommeliers.

All participants in the meeting agreed that this initiative of the ITS will help Maltese wineries to cooperate in other events.
