WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was granted bail today by the High Court in London which rejected an appeal against him being released under stringent conditions.

"I am going to grant conditional bail," judge Duncan Ouseley said, adding that he would adjust the bail conditions set out on Tuesday.

The judge therefore rejected the appeal against a lower court's decision earlier this week to release Assange on conditional bail pending moves to extradite him to Sweden.

The 39-year-old Australian is wanted in Sweden for questioning on sexual offences, but his supporters claim the allegations are politically motivated.
