Updated 6.30pm Friday - A power cut reported throughout Gozo and parts of Mellieha/Ghadira last night has now been fully restored.

Enemalta said this morning (Friday) that a fault occurred on an 11kV feeder supplying the areas of Għadira, Ċirkewwa and surroundings at 9.30pm yesterday.

Half an hour later, another fault developed on an underground 33kV cable which supplies Gozo. This led to a loss of supply all over Gozo but engineers were quick to switch the load onto the 33kV overhead lines and supply to Gozo started being restored at around 10.30pm. It was completely restored at 11.43pm.

Around the same time, another fault occurred on an 11kV cable which feeds Għadira and Ċirkewwa.

Due to this fault, supply could not be fully restored to these areas.

Enemalta employees were this morning on site to locate the fault and start repair works on all three cables. Parts of Ghadira remained without electricity until this evening but power has now been fully restored.
