Proposals for the redevelopment of the White Rocks areas will be subjected to the necessary assessment procedures to identify the potential environmental impacts arising from them, should a proposal be selected, the Environment Ministry said.

The ministry was referring to letter from Din l-Art Ħelwa and Nature Trust, published in the media on the day the extension request of the protected area at Pembroke/Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq was submitted.

The ministry said an appropriate assessment would be required in line with regulatory provisions, since the White Rocks area was adjacent to a Natura 2000 site.

This assessment would identify whether the selected proposal would ensure that the favourable conservation status of the existing Natura 2000 site was maintained, and recommend actions in this regard.
