Highlight is a fun, simple, free app for Android and iOS that allows you to learn more about the people around you.

If someone standing near you also has the Highlight app, their profile will show up on your phone. You can see their name, photos, mutual friends, and anything else they have chosen to share. When you meet someone, Highlight helps you see what you have in common with them.

Most of the information and common interests are taken via Facebook as the app immediately asks you to connect to Facebook when you launch it the first time. Once the connection is made, it will present you with all your contacts and allows you to invite your friends to sign up.

As you go about your day, Highlight runs quietly in the background, surfacing information about the people around you. If your friends are nearby, it will notify you. If someone interesting crosses your path, it will tell you more about them.

So far I have used the app for a week in Malta and unfortunately nobody seems to be using it yet.

I’m sure this will soon change as the word about the app travels around, so I’m looking forward to see how this develops.
