Polidano Group yesterday denied that any of its companies were facing cash flow problems even though some workers have not been yet paid their monthly salaries for April.

The Times of Malta was yesterday informed that some 30 employees of Polidano had not been paid.

Employees contacting this newspaper said they were told that they would have to wait a while longer as at the moment there was no money left for their remuneration.

They also claimed that some of the vehicles owned by the company were not being used as the company has not renewed either their road licences or insurance premiums due to problems with the cash flow.

He denied that any of the company’s heavy vehicles were without a licence and insurance paid

When contacted, a spokesman for the group denied any cash flow problems but admitted that some of the workers have not received their salaries.

“Iċ-Ċaqnu (Mr Polidano) is currently abroad and that is why some workers have not received their salary yet. Next Monday, when he returns, all workers will be paid,” the spokesman said.

Asked why workers had to await Mr Polidano’s return to get their dues, the spokesman said: “That’s what I’ve been told”. At the same time, he denied that any of the company’s heavy vehicles were without a licence and insurance. “This is not true as all our trucks have their licence and insurance paid,” he said.

Mr Polidano and his various companies have been making the news often particularly due to the illegalities at Montekristo Estate and his illegal animal zoo at the same venue. In 2013, the day after Mepa – as it was then called – ordered Ċaqnu to demolish illegal structures at his Ħal-Farruġ compound, workers found the gates closed and were told not to report for work until a related court case was concluded.

However, the issue was solved shortly after, with all workers allowed to return to their workplace.

A few years before, Mr Polidano had threatened that he would dismiss all employees if not given a development permit for the Riviera Hotel in Marfa.
