The choice of the new bus service operator is set to dominate the headlines this year, according to columnists of the Times of Malta.

It means 2014 will take up where 2013 left off, with the debate currently focused on the departure of Arriva.

An agreement for the formal handover of Arriva's operations and assets, including its buses, is due to be signed in the coming hours.

The headlines this year are also expected to be dominated by the European Parliament elections, the appointment of the new President and, of course, the England-Italy clash during the World Cup.
