I would like to express my anger, disapproval and disbelief that Bank of Valletta has made a new rule that cheques can be deposited only by "envelope" at the reception desk and not like before at the cashier.

The explanation I got from a branch manager was that this was to help customers avoid queuing.

But you know what they got? Long queues at the reception desk to the extent that somebody else had to be called to help. On the other hand, two cashiers were not busy and patiently waiting for customers with cash to deposit.

I wanted to deposit one cheque and divide the amount into three different accounts.

When I asked for help about how to do it the manager told me: "You must deposit it in one account and at home use internet banking to divide the rest into the other accounts." What gave them the right to assume I have a computer and know how to use it, or that I use internet banking?

I asked the manager: "What happens if I do not have internet banking?" and her answer was "Open one".

I would like to ask whoever is responsible for this policy at BOV: Are they there to give us a service so we can keep our money in their bank?

Why should I do their job for them? I do not mind waiting in line if I know that I will finish the job I came to the bank for. They had better see about opening another cashier's desk when they see that lots of customers are waiting.

I am sure that I am not alone in thinking like this. They should respect and help their customers, or they will lose them.
