The Senate is one of the University's main governing bodies. It is largely responsible for academic matters, primarily regulating studies, research, documentation and examinations at the University. The Senate also establishes the entry regulations.

The rector is ex officio president of the Senate. The other members are the pro-rectors, deans and representatives of all faculties, members appointed by the institutes, four elected student representatives, the librarian and members app-ointed by the Education Minister.

The Registrar is secretary of the Senate.

The role of the student representatives is to make sure students' rights are observed at all times and defend particular students should their case be discussed at a Senate meeting.

Students with questions or suggestions on this or any other issues may e-mail KSU vice-president Matthew Paris on vicepresident@ksu.org.mt.
