Dr Francis Zammit Dimech said that when the whole power station is on line it would, combined with the Marsa plant, be able to meet Malta’s power demands for years to come.

He was speaking at a press conference held at the power station yesterday before its official opening tomorrow. Phase two is expected to be completed by 1997, bringing Delimara’s total output up to 310 megawatts.

Protest on bank’s trade name

Mr Henry Micallef, manager of the National Bank of Malta Limited, filed a legal protest in H.M. Commercial Court against Mr Albert Cyril Oakley, manager of the Investment Bank of Malta Ltd.

Mr Micallef submitted that recently the company represented by Mr Oakley established a banking business in Malta and set up a company under the name “Investment Bank of Malta Limited”, and was now making use of these words as a trade name of the banking business.

Mr Micallef claimed that the National Bank of Malta was the successor, following an amalgamation of the company “Bank of Malta”, formerly also know as the “Banco di Malta” and was therefore the owner of the said trade name to which it had prefixed the word “National” for banking business purposes.
