Two air return tickets to Paris, donated to the Abandoned Animals Association, will be raffled to raise funds for the upkeep of the AAA's sanctuary at Luqa.

Elfed Williams, founder/president of the St David Welsh Society, who was in Malta last December, had purchased some tickets for a raffle organised to raise funds for the Boy Scout Group of Stella Maris College and was lucky to win the lottery.

Mr Williams, who had been to Paris twice, thought it would be better to give the opportunity to someone else to use the tickets and at the same time help to raise funds for a local charity. Being aware of the AAA and the sterling work its volunteers carry out to care for abandoned and rejected dogs, Mr Williams thought it would be a good idea to donate the air tickets to the association to enable it to raise some funds.

The tickets were presented to the AAA's Alfred Fenech by young Megan Montebello, eight, dressed in Welsh national costume on behalf of St David Welsh Society.

All Mr Williams wished in return was to appeal to Welsh people residing in Malta, Maltese of Welsh descent who have family ties in Wales or had either studied at the Welsh University or had work connections to join the society. The society can be contacted at 115, The Strand, Gżira.
