Michael Apap, the 60-year-old who last week fell into a well, is no longer in a critical condition although he is still in intensive care.

Mr Apap, of Msida, fell into the uncovered well in a Għargħur field as he was walking his dog, Kimba on Wednesday afternoon. He used his mobile phone to call for help and was rescued after a lengthy operation.

His daughter, Michelle, said the family did not yet know when he would return home and was “taking it day by day”. However, she added, her father was no longer in a critical condition. He fractured his right arm and the lower vertebrae in the fall.
