• We should first identify our needs and then obtain as much information as possible on the product or service we intend to purchase.

• We must make sure we are given the proof of purchase of every item we buy, and keep it for future usage.

• The goods we purchase are protected by law if they result faulty or misleadingly described.

• When asked to sign a contract, we should first fully understand what we are signing for.

• If we are not satisfied with the contract terms, we should try renego­tiating them.

• When a problem crops up, we should go back to the seller, explain our problem and what we want done.

• We should file a complaint with the Consumer and Competition Department if no solution is reached with the seller.
