Passengers who experience a long delay, cancellation or are denied boarding are legally entitled to compensation and assistance.
During long delays, passengers must be offered adequate meals and refreshments, the possibility of making two free telephone calls, e-mails and faxes, and in some cases offered free hotel accommodation and transport to and from the hotel.
When a flight is cancelled, passengers are entitled to monetary compensation, which can vary from €250 to €600, depending on the length of the flight.
Airlines are not responsible for cancelled or delayed flights due to extraordinary circumstances. However, the right to care and assistance still applies.
