A US congressman who sits on the committee that oversees the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commissioned a video of his own wedding using a drone - even though the FAA bans drone flights for commercial purposes.

A spokeswoman for Sean Patrick Maloney, a New York Democrat, acknowledged that he hired a photographer to produce a photo package of his wedding last month that included a video created using a drone.

He is a member of the House transportation and infrastructure committee's aviation subcommittee. The FAA has told commercial drone operators across the country to cease operations or face fines.
