Jurgen Klinsmann has tipped Germany for glory at this summer's World Cup and claims the insecurity over the future of current national team coach Joachim Low will not affect the players.

Speaking in the Bild newspaper, the former Germany coach talked up Germany's chances of being successful in South Africa, despite witnessing their 1-0 defeat to Argentina last week.

"We can still win it," he said. "I think the Germany team is one of the favourites together with several others, including Argentina.

"The top candidate for me, though, is Spain."

Klinsmann was in charge of Germany in 2006 when they finished third.

He, like Low, had a contract which was expiring and only days after leading the nation to victory over Portugal in the third-place play-off, Klinsmann decided to leave his position.

Many are now predicting the same with Low should he be equally successful, but Klinsmann does not see similarities with his own personal situation four years ago.

"I had turned down any negotiations before the World Cup, but this time the negotiations did take place, they just didn't go favourably," he explained.

"But when the national team meets in May for tournament preparations, that no longer plays a role for the players or the coach.

"The way the tournament goes will be decisive and then the public, the DFB (German Football Association) bosses and the coach himself will get a chance to judge."

Klinsmann would like to see Low stay on as coach after the tournament, though.

"I hope so," he added. "Jogi and his training team are the ideal solutions.

"I hope all of the contracts are extended after the World Cup."
