Two-time cancer victim Doris and her husband have to occasionally leave their disabled son Matthew at Dar tal-Providenza, the care home which continues helping the vulnerable.

Doris will be among a number of people taking donation calls on Xarabank in aid of the home.

Her son Matthew requires continuous attention and although she continued to take care of him after she was first diagnosed with cancer, she could not continue to give him the required attention 24 hours a day when a second, more aggressive cancer came up.

Her husband says that whenever they took Matthew to Dar tal-Providenza, they left the place in tears because they missed their son. There, they also met a boy who never had visitors and who their son had befriended.

Matthew’s story will be among those being featured on Xarabank on Friday. During the programme, several personalities, including ministers and politicians, will be imitating well-known singers.

Home director Fr Martin Micallef will be receiving pledges from companies, businesses and shops.
