A Muslim woman is suing a Michigan hospital after she was attacked by a man in the lobby of the emergency room.

Hospital surveillance video from February shows a woman in a hijab walking into the emergency room lobby at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan.

She was seeking help after falling on ice.

Within seconds, a man approaches from behind, and repeatedly punches her in the head, knocking the 19-year-old woman to the ground.

Hospital security and staff immediately rush to help.

The attacker has been identified as 57-year-old John Deliz.

Police say he was discharged from the hospital earlier in the day and was reportedly harassing other patients.

The woman is now suing the hospital saying it should have done more to prevent the attack.

"In this particular case it is very obvious that this person was causing a ruckus, was causing a disturbance, he should have one been placed under arrest until the police arrived."

The victim is seeking nearly $25,000 in damages.

The suspect remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled in May.
