A Facebook video of a large tree protruding dangerously onto a major thoroughfare in Lija has gone viral, less than 24 hours after a double-decker crashed into a tree in Żurrieq

The tree opposite Lija cemetery towers above lanes of Birkirkara-bound traffic as cars zip beneath it.

"Look at how dangerous it is, right in the middle of the road" the person shooting the video says. "I think it should be pulled down, pronto - right now."

The tree's trunk is scarred in much the same way as the one involved in the Żurrieq incident is, suggesting at least one high-riding vehicle has bumped into it in the past.

Within a few hours of being uploaded, the video had already been shared more than 1,200 times.

Less than a year ago, Transport Malta was slammed for having uprooted a number of trees in the area to make way for additional lanes of traffic.

Should authorities chop down this tree? Have your say in the comments section below.
