A smartly-dressed man walks up to a bring-in site in Naxxar. He takes a quick look around and relieves himself next to one of the containers. In another clip, a woman is seen taking out her black garbage bags and dumping them right in front of the recycling area.

The Naxxar local council has shared a video on its Facebook page showing the extent of illegalities carried out around the bring-in sites.

The council said it was relaying the CCTV footage to the authorities hoping action would be taken against the perpetrators in the hope that the illegalities would stop.

Żejtun local council has much the same problem. Video: Żejtun Local Council/Facebook

Naxxar is hardly the only town to suffer the brunt of inconsiderate dumping. Video posted to Facebook by the Żejtun local council just last week shows people at a bring-in site in that locality doing much the same thing, with one passer-by after another treating the recycling bin site as a spot to dump their black bag general waste.

In the post, the local council urged residents to share the video and shame perpetrators.

Similar footage has been released in the past as councils despair over the lack of discipline shown by residents for what is, in reality, a free service.
