Serie B leaders Palermo eased past Ascoli 3-0 in their league game on Thursday, but they have to thank their opponents' custodian for paving the way to their victory with a bizarre own goal.

Filippo Perucchini, Ascoli's goalkeeper, tried to take on Stefano Moreo of Palermo but instead of beating his opponent, Perucchini dribbled the ball into his own net amid the shock of himself and his companions.

This is not the first time that Perucchini was involved in such situation. In early September, against Perugia in another Serie B game, he directed a casual kick towards Perugia's Luca Vido with the ball ricocheting into the net.
