Gozitan heavy metal band Ascendor have just released their first-ever music video, filmed and edited by Bryan Testa with the help of Sean Attard.

Metalhead pays tribute to heavy metal fans and the misunderstood community they form, with the band noting many are misinterpreted "simply for being clad in black."

The song forms part of Ascendor's upcoming album Disturb the Dust, which will be the band's third studio album. The 12-track album will tackle themes such as injustrice and abuse and will also feature a re-recording of one of fans' favourite tracks from their 2013 debut album Becoming.

Disturb the Dust is expected to be out in spring 2018, around the same time that Ascendor will be making their return to the stage at the Shellshock Metal Festival, to be held in Buskett on February 17 of next year.

It was recorded by Ascendor themselves, with mixing and mastering duties handed to Steve Lombardo.

Ascendor, the only active Gozitan metal band, were formed in July 2011 by drummer Paul Formosa after jamming with guitarists Andy Fava and Joe Costa.

Steve Muscat joined the band on vocals, with Blasio Muscat on bass. Ascendor have featured in many local gigs and festivals and made it to the final of the 2013 Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands.
