Valletta and Floriana will go head to head in a top of the table clash at the National Stadium on Sunday (kick-off: 4pm).

At present just one point separates leaders Valletta and Floriana in the Premier League standings and both Floriana coach Giovanni Tedesco and Zoran Popovic, the Valletta mentor, agree that it will be a very tight match.

"The derby is always a different kind of match when not always the best teams wins," Tedesco said.

"It's always a difficult match but this year the derby has an added ingredient as both teams are fighting for the title.

"Floriana have over the years developed into a team capable of challenging for the title while Valletta are always expected to fight for the honours, so I think all the pressure is on them and we will try to enjoy the day and hopefully we can return home with a good result."

On his part, Valletta coach Zoran Popovic said he expects a very open match but has full trust on his players to bag all three points

"When you are competing for the league title every match is pressure," Popovic said.

"However, matches against Floriana is more special as they are Valletta's rivals for the last 100 years and it's no secret that there is pressure.

"I'm sure that it will be a very open match between two high-quality teams but I'm confident that we will play a great match."
