Dust and noise are a part of daily life in Malta, and construction work is often the prime culprit.
The above video was sent in by Times of Malta reader John Formosa. It shows batching plants and stone crushers at work in the Naxxar area, throwing up large dust clouds in the process.
Dust particles can cause significant respiratory problems, and with Malta having asthma rates 2.5 times higher than Sicily, the health risks are even greater.
“Everyone is aware of the problems related to health but these companies and factories are ignoring these issues,” he said.
Mr Formosa argued that such activities should be held in a confined environment and not in the open air, especially considering Malta’s dry and windy climate.
