Mexico came to Nadur this year.Mexico came to Nadur this year.

Carnival celebrations are in full swing, and revellers around the world have donned their costumes and masks to mark the occasion.

Festivities in Nadur saw Donald Trump trumped in his efforts to build a wall last night, while dancers wowed spectators in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Las Palmas and Port-au-Prince.

The first spring festival of the new year, carnival was historically an occasion to indulge in excess ahead of the start of the six weeks of fasting and prayer that characterise Lent.

Celebrations were also an opportunity for workers to mock the ruling classes - a tradition that continues to be upheld today.

Experience some of the world's carnival colour in the following videos and photos.
