Iraqi civilians vented their fury at Prime Minister Haidi al-Abadi by throwing stones at his convoy as he left the scene of two bombings that killed nearly 120 people today.

The bombings occurred in a busy shopping area and left a further 200 people wounded.

In unverified video posted to Twitter and YouTube, civilians can be seen hurling stones, bottles of water and even slippers as Mr Abadi's convoy drives away from the Baghdad neighbourhood of Karrada.

According to the BBC, civilians yelled "dog" and "thief" as the convoy drove past.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks, which came mere weeks after Iraqi forces reclaimed the city of Fallujah from Islamic State. Mr Abadi had previously linked bombings in the capital to the caliphate's control of Fallujah.
