Three Wastserv employees were placed on probation today for stealing electronic goods dumped at the civic amenity site in Mriehel.

Stepehn Azzopardi,  25, of Gharghur, Matthew Mercieca 25 of Vittoriosa and Lee Anthony Degiorgio, 29  of Cospicua, were convicted of taking a truckload of the items over the past weeks and selling them on.

The court was told that the items were considered as belonging to Wastserv, which normally sold them on for recycling.

Defence counsel said the three thought they were taking rubbish, but the accused admitted that they had sold some of the items.
