The new Gozo Waste Transfer and Materials Recovery Facility was inaugurated in Tal-Kus, Xewkija.

The €10 million facility, the first of its kind in Gozo, will sort and store waste before it is transferred to Malta. Works started in 2009 and the project was partly funded by EU funds.

Wasteserv chairman David Borg said Gozo would now have a proper waste management system where the waste would be processed in a closed environment before it was transferred to Malta.
