The Warriors Kickboxing Club will again compete in the World United Martial Arts Championships, to be held at the Palasport in Alcamo, Sicily, between November 12 and 14.

No fewer than 18 countries will be represented in what promises to be a spectacular extravaganza with a variety of styles, showcasing some of the world’s leading masters in this discipline.

The Warriors’ team, under the tutelage of Sensei Julian Lee Ritchie and Sensei Peter Francalanza, is made up of Maverick Everest, Melchior Catania, Anthony Farrugia, Jonathan Debono, Kyron Busuttil, Elvic Zammit and veteran Pierre Tonna.

They will be linking up with other Maltese martial artists at the Sicily event, namely those of the Wu Shu Ky Club led by Sensei Silvio Camilleri.

Ritchie is confident that his athletes have peaked at the right moment, both on a technical and physical level.

“We are determined to return home with positive results,” Ritchie said.

“This time we are lucky that the championships are being held in nearby Sicily.”

“The best performers have been selected, no-one makes the team unless they’ve earned it,” Ritchie added. “They all worked extremely hard for this opportunity.”
