I was shocked recently to be forwarded an e-mail from Aġenzija Appoġġ. The gist of the e-mail was a warning against the consumption of a popular energy drink, especially when used as a coctail with alcohol like Vodka. Indeed it refered to it as a "cocktail of death"!

It says that both France and Denmark have prohibited its sale and went on scientifically to explain in detail its effects on the human body, especially on the brain.

It is especially popular with young people and pubs in Paceville frequently advertise pitchers of the drink at special prices. My son and his buddies drink quite a few cans for a proper Saturday night fever and I must admit that even I drink the stuff occasionally for it does act as a stimulus especially when I feel tired and want to continue enjoying a night out!

Considering the alarming ill effects of the drink I wonder why the health authorities in Malta and elsewhere in Europe do not take the proper steps to prohibit its sale. Failure to do so they risk being accused of a gross immoral inertia.
