Two female wards at St Vincent de Paul have been re-opened after extensive renovation aimed at providing residents with more privacy and a better environment.

This was the first time the wards have been refurbished since 1992, and they had since then fallen well below standard. They currently host 80 residents.

The refurbishment cost €1.5 million, part of a government effort to rebrand the facility for the elderly, Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Justyne Caruana said.
