As from Wednesday wardens will be on patrol in St Paul's Bay to prevent residents and owners of commercial premises from taking out their garbage at the wrong time.

This practice often results in waste remaining in the streets for whole days and nights, the local council said.

The council added that fines between €58.23 (Lm25) and €2,329.37 (Lm1,000) may be handed out to people not abiding by the regulations.

The council reminded the public that the bulky refuse service is provided free of charge by all local councils and residents can benefit from this service by contacting their council.
