Two brothers were yesterday charged with assaulting and injuring a warden in Żejtun in a row over a parking ticket.

Clayton Muscat, 28, of Żejtun, and Lawrence Muscat, 34, of Fgura, pleaded not guilty and also denied causing damage amounting to less than €250 on Tuesday afternoon.

They were further charged with disobeying the warden’s orders and preventing him from carrying out his duties.

Sources said the warden was about to slap a ticket on an illegally parked car. His equipment was damaged in the incident.

Magistrate Antonio Mical-lef Trigona granted the two men bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 each.

Inspector Johann Fenech prosecuted, while lawyers Keith Borg and Carlos Bugeja appeared for the accused.
