A former prison inmate who had been wanted by the police for two months for allegedly assaulting his partner, was arrested on Saturday evening in Marsa and arraigned in court this morning.

Tony Amadeo Zahra was accused by Police Inspector Sandra Zammit of having assaulted and severely injured Dorianne Abela in the afternoon of November 10 in a house in Mosta.

He was also accused of threatening Ms Abela and causing his two young children to fear that violence would be used against them.

He was also accused of being a relapser.

Mr Zahras pleaded not guilty.

A request for bail was denied.
