Marsascala has been blessed with natural beauty. Why is it that instead of exploiting this we choose to hand over precious parts of it to the few, while the majority of us have to be content with the concrete buildings left behind?

When will we realise that money is not the only way that makes man rich? Food for the soul, like simply watching the sunrise and being surrounded by open spaces, is just as necessary to make a person complete.

Yes, we want universities in Malta, but not at the expense of our unique features which no money can ever replace. No, we do not want family parks near a waste treatment plant, no matter how well planned they may be. Yes, we want open spaces where families can exercise and which are close to the sea where the air is purer than other places. No, we do not feel we need to fight for our rights, but expect all our representatives to agree on preserving our God-given treasures.

Here’s my plea to our representatives: kindly leave us spaces where we can remain sane in this fast-moving world. Malta of the present and the future will have a lot to thank you for.
